Pray Boldly

About The Strange Him!!

The Strange Him!! is more than a newsletter — it’s a call to live narrowly, but boldly.

In a world that celebrates comfort, convenience, and compromise, the man who follows Jesus Christ is no longer the rule — he’s the exception.
He’s strange by the world’s standards. Set apart. Resilient. Unafraid to walk the narrow road.

“Enter by the narrow gate… For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
— Matthew 7:13–14

This space exists for men ready to stand firm, resist the drift, and prepare their hearts and minds to struggle and sacrifice for the sake of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Each issue of The Strange Him is built to challenge, equip, and sharpen — helping you live with conviction, courage, and clarity in a culture constantly calling you to water it all down.

This isn’t a newsletter for perfect men.
It’s for men willing to be watchmen — ready to take their post:

Eyes open.
Heart anchored.
Sword in hand.

Let’s study, stand, and grow together as men of Christ — bold, prepared, and faithfully strange.

Let us become the men of God our families, communities, and country want and need.

Praying Boldly

In Acts 4:1–22, Peter and John were arrested for preaching about Jesus’ resurrection after healing a lame man. Brought before the Sanhedrin, Peter boldly declared that the healing was through Jesus Christ and that salvation is found in Him alone. Unable to deny the miracle, the council threatened them but eventually released them.

In Acts 4:23–31, we read that Peter and John returned to “their own people” — the other believers, the early Christians — and the first thing they did together was pray. They prayed:

“Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David:

‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’

Indeed, Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

There are two things worth noticing here.

1. They prayed for boldness.
I once heard a pastor say (and I’m paraphrasing), “When Peter and John were released from prison, the first thing they did was pray. And what was their prayer? For boldness! Boldness! Can you believe it? They had just been imprisoned for boldly preaching the Word of God — and now they are asking for more boldness! I think the one thing these brothers were lacking was boldness.”

How about you? Are you bold? Have you ever shared the Good News of Jesus? And if you have and then were criticized or rejected for sharing the Gospel, did you immediately get back up and continue speaking for our Lord?

I’ll be honest — this isn’t me. I have not shared my faith as often as I could or should. And when I have faced pushback, I haven’t always “jumped back on the horse.” That’s why this is my prayer — for myself, for you, and for all believers: that we would seek boldness in Christ and faithfully share the Light with the world.

2. God’s response to their prayer.
Verse 31 says: “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

I take this to mean God was pleased with their request, and the shaking was a physical sign of His agreement and presence.

From Acts 4, I believe we see that God delights when we come to Him asking for strength to do His work. Are you seeking strength from Him daily? Are you even seeking The Lord daily? Take time each day to pursue God’s will and ask Him to reveal His strength through you for His purposes.

My pastor has been teaching from 1 Timothy on Wednesday nights, and last night’s message was from chapter 6. In verse 12, Paul tells Timothy: “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

The words “take hold” mean “to get a good grip.” The best way to start to learn how to get a good grip is to be bold in prayer. Ask God to place in you a fight you never knew you had. Before you even go to battle, and there will be battles, go to prayer and worship the Father — in turn, He will keep every part of the armor of God active in you.

As Paul writes in Ephesians 6:18 (NIV): “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
